4 | "Bistro Open" Sub-Function

This article outlines the "Bistro Open" Sub-Function, how it is configured in BackOffice, and how it can be used in SmartPOS. The "Bistro Open" Sub-Function is designed to open Bistro-specific Tables; i.e., used in "Bistro" style environments where guests are given a number when ordering at the Till.

This article outlines the "Bistro Open" Sub-Function, how it is configured in BackOffice, and how it can be used in SmartPOS.

The "Bistro Open" Sub-Function is designed to open Bistro-specific Tables; i.e., used in "Bistro" style environments where guests are given a number when ordering at the Till.

These Tables are different from other tables because: 

  • Items that are ordered are paid for immediately 
  • Nothing is sent to remote printers until all guests for the same Table have ordered 

Prerequisites

  •  To access Till Function Settings, the applicable Operator Privileges will need to be enabled 
    • Operator Maintenance 'General' Tab
      • System Setup: "Maintain Till Function Maps" Flag
  • To access and use this Till Function within SmartPOS, the following Operator Privileges will need to be enabled
      • Operator Maintenance 'Till Privileges' Tab
        • Tables: "Table Sales" Flag

Initial Setup 

  • Click on the desired Button space and then configure the Button Settings:
    • In the Button Text field enter the text that will display on the Till Function Button on SmartPOS Workstation screens
    • Set the Function drop-down to 'Tables & Accounts'
    • Set the Sub-Function to 'Bistro Open'


Function-Specific Configurations 

  • Enter a corresponding number in the Item field where:
    • Numbers from zero to seven (0-7) will select a specified Table Group that will be used
  • If required, enter the corresponding number in the Key Field where: 
    • The number will be the preset Table Number when a Table is opened 

SmartPOS Example

  • After the Bistro Open Sub-Function is selected, the function map will then change to the Bistro Panel
