37 | "Table Promo Item" Sub-Function

This article outlines the "Table Promo Item" Sub-Function, how it is configured in BackOffice, and how it can be used in SmartPOS. The "Table Promo Item" Sub-Function allows an Operator to Discount a Product during a Transaction There are four (4) types of Discounts that can be applied when using this function and they include: Zero Price: Sets the Product to $0.00 Disc. %: Discounts a Product based on a percentage Disc.

The "Table Promo Item" Sub-Function allows an Operator to Discount a Product during a Transaction

There are four (4) types of Discounts that can be applied when using this function and they include: 

  • Zero Price: Sets the Product to $0.00 
  • Disc. %: Discounts a Product based on a percentage  
  • Disc. Amt: Discounts a Product based on a set amount
  • Reprice: Changes the price of a Product

Prerequisites

  • To access Till Function Settings, the following Operator Privileges will need to be enabled: 
    • Operator Maintenance 'General' Tab
      • System Setup: "Maintain Till Function Maps" Flags
  • To use this Till Function in SmartPOS, the following Operator Privileges will need to be enabled:
    • Operator Maintenance 'Till Privileges' Tab 
      • General: "Operate Tills" Flag 
      • Accounts & Discounts: "Manual Amount Discounts" Flag 
      • Tables: "Table Sales" Flag

Initial Setup 

  • Click on the desired Button space and configure the Button Settings:
    • In the Button Text field enter the text that will display on the Till Function Buttons on SmartPOS Workstation screens
    • Set the Function drop-down to 'Tables & Accounts'
    • Set the Sub-Function to 'Table Promo Item" 


Function-Specific Configurations 

  • In the Item Field, the corresponding number will:
    • Assign a preset discount percentage rather than prompting the Operator (discount in hundredths) 
  • Enter a corresponding number into the SubItem field where:
    • "1" prompt the Operator to enter the reason for Discounting a Product 
  • The Key field is the Discount Totalizer from those set up in the System ranging from one to thirty (1-30)

SmartPOS Usage 

  • After highlighting a Product in the Transaction Menu and then selecting the "Table Promo Item" Sub-Function, the Operator can then select the Discount Type for the Product
